Care Products
Humorous and with a good dose of sarcasm and irony, Care Products unfolds as a strange private moment inside the shop window, where the performer executes everyday actions that transform into abstract movements. Banal directions that often verge with the absurd and the dystopian can be heard from a screen and urge the audience to reflect on the madness of everyday life and the tendency to conform without resistance. The performance was first presented in 2018 at Athens Video Dance Festival.

De-Faces
De-Facies (from Latin facies, “mask”) stems from Lackan’s concept of the “mirror stage”— a fundamental moment in human development that is necessary for us to become conscious of our self-existence. Seated inside the shop window, the performer is making a mask by sticking materials directly on her face. She, like a chameleon, is trying to merge with her surroundings, and disappear in the colours of her shiny backdrop. After she has completed her mask, the performer will continue the work in the streets around the Performance Shop, where the audience is invited to follow her.

Late Night Impro
Nadi Gogoulou and her guests present the project “Late Night Impro” inside the window of the shop. This is a series of improvisation performances based on the concept of the “first time” and of “creating in the moment”. The performers come up with an idea ahead of time, develop it theoretically and then present a performance that revolves around movement with the element of coexistence between two or more people. The result is a performance that has literally never happened before highlighting the first time a thing is created and the exact moment it is born.

Exercising Democracy
Let’s assume we sometimes have things worth saying. And let’s admit, we wish we could share those freely with others without self-criticism, repression, and the typical self-imposed obstacles. The piece “Exercising Democracy” gives you, the spectator, the opportunity to speak up. Place yourself at the microphone and say whatever you desire without judgment. This performance is a first step towards another way of listening. A different kind of democracy.
